Pt Mahanand Joo Dhar was the great grandfather and Pt. Sat Ram Dhar was grandfather of Maj-Gen. (retd) B.N.Dhar.
There is a common saying among kashmiri's " Zan chuk Bal Kak Dhar". Any idea who this urban legend was !!
Bal Kak Dhar, my grandfather, was a jagirdar and wazir-e-wazarat of Anantnag, Baramulla and Muzzafarabad at different times. He was of Birbal Dhar lineage, who had gone to court of Maharaja Ranjit Singh to request for Sikh annexation of Kashmir to drive away tyrannical Afghan rulers

A casual search tells me he was a prominent rais of the state. No idea what he did to deserve this.

He was Dina ace minister of Kashmir and his farther as the one who went to maharaja ranjeet singh to get forigen rulers out of Kashmir
