Naulora in Autumn, 1983

‘Chillies Drying in Autumn’
Naulora Village
From Raghubir Singh’s ‘Kashmir: Garden of the Himalayas’ (1983).
I couldn’t find a single instance of that village name on internet. May be the village is still like that…

A reader provided the details: “Naulora is a village in Pattan area, it is 3-4 km from Singhpora village on Srinagar -Baramullah highway.”

  1. There's no beauty left. Comment via email by Mukhtar Ahmad, one of the best Kashmiri photographers, "I personally went to see the village from Pulwama district but to my great disappointment there was no scene like Raghubir Singh was able to capture…all the oriental and ethnic house holds have been converted into concrete structures…and this particular house has been converted to a clumsy ugly brick structure with tinned roof. Naulora village still exists some 23 kms away from Pulwama district."

    1. This is profoundly sad. Rabhubir Singh's brilliant photographs of Naulora village remain even more important now.
